Launch Scan tool

July 24, 2011

I have been using the launch X431 master scan tool for the last couple of months and have been very impressed with it as of late. When I first started usung the tool I was unsure whether it would measure up to some of the other scan tools I have used in the past. When I was first introduced to the tool I tried it out on a couple of domestic cars plus a Toyota Prius. The tool was a little weak on the domestics but perfromed well on the Toyota. Since that time I have used the tool in our service truck and continue to be surprised as to what I have access to and what the tool will do. For example I was working on the climate control on a late model Chrysler product and wanted to access the blend door data. None of the 3 other generic scan tool that are on our service truck could access the door. Tried the launch and not only did it access the door data but it identified the system and provided the module calibration as well. Pretty impressive. I have been able to get into the immobilizer on Nissan's and Honda's (always a pain) and recently had the tool on a Volvo XC90. On the Volvo I not only had access to the PCM, TCM and ABS but I had access to all body modules with full bi directional capability and calibration routines. Took me about 10 minutes to diagnose a power window and traction control problem. I highly recommend this tool.
